June 14, 2026
On 14 June, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) hosted its annual Global Film Industry Value Chain Development Forum at the 2026 Shanghai International Film Festival. This year’s forum, themed “UHD for the New Digital Era: A Future Forward Vision for Global Film & TV,” brought together industry leaders and experts to explore emerging opportunities in the premium video market and the continued development of the Ultra HD film and television ecosystem.
Opening remarks highlighted the importance of collaboration across the industry to support technological innovation, content development and sustainable growth in the digital era.
The forum featured two panel discussions. The first examined how technology and industry partnerships are helping to strengthen the Ultra HD ecosystem, with speakers sharing perspectives on infrastructure, innovation and consumer experiences. The second focused on the distribution and monetisation of Ultra HD content, exploring evolving business models, audience demand and opportunities for premium viewing experiences.
In the evening, MPA hosted MPA American Film Night at the Museum of Art Pudong. The reception welcomed more than 200 guests from across the film, television and streaming sectors, including representatives from MPA member studios, government agencies, the U.S. Consulate, and major film festivals.
