TAICCA X MPA Script to Screen Film Workshop & Pitching Competition 2022

The Motion Picture Association and Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) will co-host a capacity building event that invites approximately 60 of Taiwan’s leading film/TV makers to hear from studio executives about the international industry’s approach to the development process, particularly as it concerns long form television. We will hear from two international development/production executives, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers in the room. This will be followed directly by a pitch competition where five filmmakers are given five minutes each to pitch their new project. The pitches will be judged by local established filmmakers alongside international development/production executives. The live event will be closed to those attending and MPA member studio representatives.

Each year the Motion Picture Association APAC is pleased to partner with the Indonesian Contemporary Art and Design Film Convention (ICAD) on a special film workshop. This year is no different as we were joined by director Patrick Hughes, known for his hit making action-comedy blockbusters “The Hitman’s Bodyguard”, “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” and “Expendables 3”. Patrick’s latest film is “The Man From Toronto”, due to be released in 2022. He’s next set to write and direct his own feature sci-fi action film “War Machine”.

Patrick was joined in conversation by the MPA’s Stephen Jenner, and Indonesian actress Hannah Al Rashid, known for “Aruna & Her Palate” and the Netflix thriller “The Night Comes for Us”.

The MPA film workshop is part of ICAD XI – PUBLIK hosted by the Indonesian Contemporary Art and Design Film Convention (ICAD). It’s one of the biggest creative exhibitions in Indonesia, annually held since 2009.

VOD Supercharges Taiwan Content Across Global Markets

VOD Supercharges Taiwan Content Across Global Markets

The Motion Picture Association is proud to partner with Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) and SPRG to release The Economic Impact of Video-On-Demand Services in Taiwan 2021 report. This event follows a previously successful partnership between MPA and TAICCA for a Script to Screen Film Workshop in March 2021.

The study shows that countries that incentivize VOD industries, rather than burden them with restrictions and heavy-handed regulation, are more likely to develop a virtuous cycle of investment and return. This benefits the economy, creates jobs and produces great content for all to enjoy.

The launch event for The Economic Impact of Video-On-Demand Services in Taiwan 2021 research report will involve a moderated discussion with some key stakeholders in Taiwan’s video-on-demand industry.
